HOUSING STUDENTS - STUDENTS LIVING ON CAMPUS

CHANGES FOR 2019-2020

  • Due to contruction of the Freshmen Village Project, Pearce Ford Lot is closed. 
  • The H3 zone is now the Barnes Lot only.
  • University Blvd Lot will be new "HU" zone.
  • New Topper Transit Routes (Hilltopper Route and Big Red Route).
  • New benefits in the Carless program.

  • Gated Permit: 
    • AH:  Alumni Square Garage 24/7 access - $275/year
  • Premium Housing (H1-H4) - $245/year
    • H1:  Levels 4-7 of Parking Structure 1
    • H2:  Minton Lot
    • H3:  Barnes Lot
    • H4:  Poland Lot and Avenue of Champions
  • Non-Premium Housing (H5-HU) - $125/year
    • H5:  Parking Structure 3
    • H6:  Adams Street Lot and Kentucky Street Apt. Alley Lot
    • H7:  Chestnut Street South Lot
    • H8:  Normal Street South Lot
    • H9:  Creason Lot
    • HU:  University Blvd Lot.
  • South Campus Housing (SC) - $50/year
    • Storage parking 2 miles south of main campus

CARLESS PROGRAM – For residents who choose to leave their cars at home

  • Students enrolled in the Carless program receive discounts on transportation services provided, such as free access to GObg public transit, discounted enrollment to the Enterprise CarShare program, and discounts on airport shuttle service.
  • New this year, VeoRide bike share semester credit.

COMMUTERS - STUDENTS LIVING OFF CAMPUS

CHANGES FOR 2019-2020

  • To improve the parking experience for Commuters, we are introducing "Designated Parking" for Commuters. Permits will be sold by lot.
  • New this year:  A new Commuter Lot located on Park Street between Cabell Street and 14th Ave.  The new Park Street Lot will be zoned C4 and will be served by the Topper Transit Big Red Route.
  • Please note:  the University Blvd Lot is no longer a Commuter lot.  It will be rezoned for Housing due to construction of the Freshmen Village. 
  • The Park Mobile Permit is replacing the Daily Commuter permit. 
    • Expanded parking lot choices for the new year.
    • The Park Mobile permit allows users to pay for available parking reservations by date and location.

    • Alumni Square Garage (AS:  24/7 access) - $275/year
    • Alumni Square Garage (AC:  6:00 AM - 9:00 PM weekdays) - $225 / year
    • Health Sciences (HS) - $135/year
      • For parking at The WKU Medical Center Gated Lot at the Medical Center Complex downtown
      • Must be enrolled in Nursing School or DPT program.
  • Premium Permits - $245/year
    • C1:  Parking Structure 2
    • C2:  Chestnut Street North
  • Non-Premium Permits - $125/year
    • C3:  Kentucky Street Lot
    • C4:  New Park Street Lot (located on Park Street between Cabell Street and 14th Avenue)
    • C5:  Parking Structure 3
  • Park and Ride Permits - $50/year
    • C6:  Russellville Road West Park and Ride
    • C7:  Campbell Lane / South Campus Park and Ride
      • Campbell Lane and South Campus lots served by the Hilltopper Route every 15 minutes during peak service.
  • Parking Reservations - $10 initial permit fee plus reservation fees for each use
    • PM:  Park Mobile
      • Use the Park Mobile app to pay for a parking reservation by date and location.

FACULTY / STAFF - EMPLOYEES OF THE UNIVERSITY

CHANGES FOR 2019-2020

  • Faculty / Staff FS3 parking will be expanded in the Chestnut Street North, Chestnut Street South and Kentucky Street lots. 
  • Due to the contruction of the Freshmen Village project, Gated Regents Lot will close.  Current Gated Regents permit holders will have the option to purchase either an FS1 or FS2 permit while supplies last.  FS3 permits will also be available. 
  • Due to contruction of the Helm Commons Project, the Helm Lot will close.

  • Reserved Parking (R) - $730/year
  • Gated Permits:
    • GH:  Gated Hilltop Lot - $450/year
    • AS:  Alumni Square Garage 24/7 access - $275/year
    • HS:  Health Sciences  - $135/year
      • For parking in WKU Medical Center gated lot located at the Medical Center Complex downtown
      • Must be associated with Nursing School or DPT program.
  • Premium Permits - $245/year
    • FS1:  The "Hill" and Mimosa Lot
    • FS2:  Lots near Diddle Arena and South Lawn
  • Non-Premium Faculty / Staff Permit - $115/year
    • FS3:  Perimeter faculty/staff parking lots
  • Park and Ride Permit - $50 / year
    • C7:  Campbell Lane / South Campus Park and Ride
      • Campbell Lane and South Campus lots served by the Hilltopper Route every 15 mintues during peak service.
  • Parking Reservations - $10 initial permit fee plus reservation fees for each use
    • Parking fees are based on the lot you choose. 
    • The PM permit is valid only in the location, date, and time purchased through the ParkMobile website (wku.pmreserve.com).

PUBLIC PARKING

  • Public Pay Lots – Four public parking lots are available on campus; Alumni Square Garage, Chestnut Street North Lot, Regents Pay Lot, Diddle South Lot. 
  • Meters – Meters are distributed throughout campus for short term parking.  Meter fees will be $0.50 for 15 minutes. 
  • Visitor Permits – Visitor permits are available at the PTS office.
  • South Campus – Free parking for visitors is available at Campbell Lane.  Check in required at the PTS office.
  • Park Mobile Permit (PM) - use the Park Mobile reservation website (wku.pmreserve.com) to make a parking reservation by date and location.

TOPPER TRANSIT

CHANGES FOR 2019-2020

  • In an effort to better serve students' needs, Topper Transit routes will be realigned.
  • The Hilltopper Route will replace the White Line and will serve South Campus to Kentucky Street. 
  • The Big Red Route will replace the Red Line and will serve Russellville Rd to Chestnut Street.
  • New stops are being added at Chesntut Street North, Chestnut Street South, the new Park Street Lot, College Heights Blvd and Ogden at Park Street.
  • The Valley stop will be moved to the front of Hilltopper Hall.
  • The Green Line Shopping Shuttle will no longer run during the week. The Shopping Shuttle will run on Saturdays only.
  • The new Big Red Route will travel to the Walmart on Morgantown Road after 6:00 PM and until 9:00 PM weekdays. 
  • The new Hilltopper Route will travel to Kroger Shopping Center after 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM weekdays. 
  • A campus on-demand van service will operate:  
    • Sundays from 6:00 PM until 11:00 PM
    • Mondays - Thursdays 9:00 PM - 11:00 PM. 

TRANSIT ROUTES OVERVIEW

  • Hilltopper Route – Weekday service connects Main Campus, South Campus and Kentucky Street.  Includes stops on Creason.  Beginning at 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM weekdays, the Hilltopper Route will have an additional stop at the Kroger Shopping Center on Campbell Lane. 
  • Big Red Route – Weekday service connects Main Campus with Russellville Road West Park and Ride Lot and Chestnut Street. Beginning at 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM weekdays, the Big Red Route will have an additional stop at the Walmart on Morgantown Road. 
  • Shopping Shuttle – connects Main Campus with South Campus and off-campus shopping centers (6:00 PM - 9:00 PM weekdays) with full service on Saturday only.
  • NextBus – Use NextBus to track when the next bus will arrive at your bus stop.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES

  • Disability Parking – A WKU disability parking permit is required to park in disability spaces on the WKU campus.  Disability parking permits are issued at the PTS office.
  • Paratransit Service – Curb to curb service for faculty, staff and students with disabilities
  • GObg – PTS sells semester passes for GObg, Bowling Green’s Public Transit system
  • Enterprise Car Share – Members rent vehicles parked on campus by the hour
  • Airport Shuttle – Shuttle service to the Nashville International Airport (BNA)
  • Motorcycle Parking – Motorcycles and scooters must be registered with PT.
  • VeoRide Bike share - bike share program
  • Bicycle Parking – Bicycles must be parked at designated bike rackss
  • Ride Share - match passengers with drivers going to same destination
