Testing Infractions

How do the DELO Testing Centers define a testing infraction?

A tester breaches the general testing guidelines defined within the DELO Testing Centers' Memorandum of Understanding or the specific exam instructions provided by the tester’s instructor for a specific exam.

Reporting testing infractions:

All DELO Testing Centers staff witnessing the infraction will write an incident report providing both the tester’s actions as well as the proctor’s actions. Additionally, we will remove items that are considered prohibited (hidden note sheets, duplicate cellphones, hidden notecards, etc.) or close additional tabs when spotted. The DELO Testing Centers proctoring staff will notify the supervisor on duty about the incident and the supervisor will reach out to the faculty member via phone to inform the faculty member of the incident. Finally, the supervisor on duty will review the surveillance footage for any additional infractions.

Please note that the DELO Testing Centers staff will not stop a tester from completing his/her exam unless instructed to by the professor. Instead, our staff will allow the tester to finish his/her exam and provide the details to the professor concerning when the tester checked in and out for the exam and the approximate time of the infraction.

After the incident reports are created by the testing center staff, these reports will be scanned and emailed to the professor with the tester’s signed Memorandum of Understanding. If surveillance footage is available regarding the incident, our staff will inform the instructor and create a DVD copy of the footage for the faculty to pick up.

Upon receipt of the incident report, it will be the faculty’s responsibility to report the incident to other WKU personnel or departments such as Department heads or Judicial Affairs if deemed necessary unless the incident is of a severe nature and then the DELO Testing Centers staff will email Judicial Affairs a copy of the report.

ProctorU is an online remote proctoring service offered as an additional option for students in rural locations that do not have another viable option, for active duty military, and of international/study abroad students.

DELO Testing Centers do not charge a fee to WKU students for online learning or on demand exams; however, the WKU Remote Proctoring Network includes proctor locations who charge for services as well as those that don't. Students are responsible for payment of any proctoring fees if they choose to use a site that charges for services. Students are also responsible for any additional fees that might be associated with the use of a particular proctoring site, such as parking fees.

We ask that faculty consider placing a statement in their syllabus regarding the possibility of proctor fees for students who need to use a remote proctoring location, such as the statement above.

WKU Faculty have utilized DELO Testing Centers for their online courses for more than a decade.
