**Important Information on Summer Sessions/Winter Term** 

Effective Summer 2016, the Council of Academic Deans has approved a new scale to pay additional amounts for highly enrolled classes during the Summer Sessions and Winter Term.

# Students

Additional Stipend Amount

20 – 24 students

$100/credit hour

25 – 29 students

$200/credit hour

30 or more students

$300/credit hour 

Example:

A full-time facultyteaches Eng 100 in May Session. There are 27 students enrolled on May 17 (2nd day of class).  A SIA correction will be submitted to pay the faculty an additional $600 ($200 x 3 credit hours.) The faculty’s total compensation for the class would be $5,100. 

Enrollment will be based on the number of students on the second day of class.

Summer 2015 Faculty Workload Guidelines
Max Credit Hours Taught Minimum # Weeks
1 - 4 hours 3 Weeks
5 - 8 hours 4 Weeks
9 - 11 hours 8 Weeks
12 hours* 13 Weeks
*Faculty can teach up to 12 hours during Summer Term (depending on total time and effort). For example, grant work is considered time and effort therefore the faculty would not be allowed to teach the full 12 hours.

Full time faculty stipend rate for summer 2015 is $1,500 per credit hour; so a 3–credit course would produce a $4,500 stipend.

Part-time faculty rates for a 3 credit hour course in Summer 2015 are as follows:

  • Level I = $1,692
  • Level II = $1,840
  • Level III = $2,136
  • Level IV = $2,280
