During the spring semester and after arriving on campus, President Caboni solicited from the transition team, shared governance organizations and others with whom he was visiting the names of individuals with whom he should meet. The purpose of these 1-on-1 meetings was primarily to hear from people across the institution, their perspectives, aspirations and ideas for where WKU might head during the next decade. Each of these conversations helped to shape his understanding of the challenges ahead and influenced what was included in his inagural convocation address.
President Caboni also used these appointments to identify individuals who would bring their talents to the strategic planning process. Those invited to participate on working groups, on the steering committee or in co-chair positions bring unique perspectives, expertise, deep knowledge and/or positive attitudes toward this process. Most importantly, each leaves behind their personal affiliations (faculty/staff/student/alumnus/policmaker/donor/community partner) and will engage in planning with an eye toward what is in the best overall interest of WKU.
