STE Annual Summer Conference 2015

2015 Theme: Literacy Across the Curriculum

This year’s program, “Literacy Across the Curriculum”, focuses on the critical importance of literacy in every subject area. The WKU STE Summer Conference will emphasize how different strategies can be utilized to help teachers and students ensure competency, knowledge and literacy.

The 2015 School of Teacher Education Summer Conference is dedicated to offering professional development, Action Research presented by WKU Graduate Students, Makerspace engagement activities, and practical applications focused on Literacy Across the Curriculum.

WKU faculty, students, area practitioners, and administrators are invited to submit proposals for presentations (40 minutes). All proposals will be reviewed by the program committee for relevance to conference theme as well as variety and innovation of proposals. There are three types of presentations that can be offered in the 40 minute segments:

  1. Concurrent Sessions: in-room presentations with a small audience (Presentation presenters will be provided a PC computer, speakers, and projector. However, presenters are welcome to bring their own laptop.)
  2. Panel Sessions: More than one presentation and Presenter is possible on the same or more than one topic.
  3. Makerspace Sessions: in-room engagement driven activities centered around hands-on, real world, curriculum-embedded experiences that can be implemented in the school setting.
