Interested in medicine? Want to learn more about the health field? Want to live in a college dorm? Attend a health career summer program and spend your summer exploring the health field and living on a college campus.

Programs for Students Entering 10-12th Grade:
Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine PEPP
This program accepts Kentucky high school students about to enter 12th grade. Those students entering 12th grade and meet application guidelines get chosen first. Then next accepted are those students entering 11th, 10th and 9th grades. This two week program focuses on academic preparation, clinical/hospital experiences and hands on activities. It includes dormitory life and introduction to medical electives and gross anatomy.

University of Kentucky AHEC Summer Camps
The UK AHEC offers two residential summer camps for current high school students. The programs are intended for students interested in pursuing a health career.
Summer Enrichment Program Camp: 3 weeks, open to rising high school juniors (current sophomores).
Health Researchers Youth Academy Camp: 3 weeks, open to rising high school seniors (current juniors).
Programs for Students Graduating High School:
University of Kentucky PEPP Scholar
Kentucky students from medically under-served areas who have graduated from high school,
may apply to this program. This program is meant for students interested in becoming
rural physicians or dentists. Students will experience college life as they attend
medical lectures and take clinical sit visits. Students will also have rotations at
the UK Medical Center.
Programs for Current College Students
University of Kentucky PEPP 2
Open to Kentucky college students who are interested in becoming a rural doctor or dentist. This program helps students prepare for the MCAT or DAT, gives students clinical experience, and instructs students on a variety of health topics.
Summer Health Professions Education Program at UofL (SHEP)
Open to current freshman and sophomores in college who are interested in pursuing a health career. During the six week program at UofL, students will explorer the health field through the academic and clinical settings. The program is free for all participants.
University of Kentucky Rural Physician Leadership Program -- Medical School Admission Boot Camp
Open to Kentucky college students who are interested in applying to medical school. This intensive program focuses on the medical school application process and helps participants strengthen their application. The program is free and includes: housing, food, supplies, and a travel stipend.
College Rural Scholars -- U of L School of Medicine Trover Campus
Open to Kentucky college students who are interested in applying to medical school. The goal is to faciliate acadmeic success for pre-med students. Students must be nominated by their pre-med advisor for this program.
