Potter College Creative Arts Scholarship

The Potter College Creative Arts Scholarship is a competitive award, based on the requirements of the department in which you apply. Award amounts are between $1,000 and $9,000 per year, renewable for four years (8 semesters total). High school seniors are invited to apply if they plan to attend WKU and major in one of the degrees listed below.

How to Apply

Step 1: Apply and be accepted to WKU by January 15th.

The WKU online application can be found here.

Please keep in mind that WKU must also receive your official high school transcripts by January 15th as part of this process.

Step 2: Complete the TopDollar application by February 1st.

Every applicant must complete the TopDollar scholarship application found here.

Step 3: Select the discipline you wish to pursue below.

The links or listed contact information below will take you to the department in which your chosen discipline is housed and that department's requirements for applying to the Creative Arts Scholarship.

Art Department:  Visual Studies (studio, art education)  |  Visual Art (studio, graphic design)

English Department: Creative Writing: Email writing samples to english.office@wku.edu

Journalism & Broadcasting:Film Program: Please email travis.newton@wku.edu for details

Music Department: Performance, Education

Theatre & Dance Department: Theatre (general interest, directing, dramaturgy, playwriting, or youth theatre) | Acting | Musical Theatre | Theatre Design and Technology (consumes, set design, props, technical direction, lighting, sound and stage management) | Dance

 Retaining Scholarship

Scholarships are renewed annually.  Terms for renewal include full-time status, good academic standing (a cumulative GPA of 3.0+), and maintaining an approved arts major (see above).  Individual departments may have additional policies.
