LPN to ASN Program

"Committed to Caring and Striving for Excellence."

The ASN Program assists Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in ASN Program completion by offering various delivery methods, scheduling options, challenge exams and experiential credit. LPNs are encouraged to contact the LPN to ASN Office to discuss their eligibility and to develop their own customized curriculum plan.

Upon admission to the ASN Program and after successful completion of NUR 150, PSY 220, and BIO 131, the LPN will submit proof of current LPN license to the ADN Program Coordinator for the awarding of nine credit hours for NUR 104, NUR 105 and NUR 106.

LPNs may receive credit on the basis of departmental examinations for NUR 165, NUR 215 and NUR 254. LPNs must contact the ASN Program office for examination details.

LPN curriculm plans depend on which course(s) the LPN successfully CLEPs.

Additionally, LPNs may receive experiential credit for the following courses: NUR 166, NUR 209 and NUR 216 after successful completion of each clinical course's didactic component.

**Transition Term refers to the term in which you will complete the NUR 150 LPN to RN Transition Course. This is after you are accepted into the LPN to ASN program, but before you start actual nursing courses.

Additionally, this Transition Term will aid you in selecting an "Admit Term" when completing your admission application to WKU. When selecting the "Admit Term" on your WKU admission application, please use the appropriate "Transition Term" listed below:

If you are applying for: Application Deadline Transition Term

NOTE: Students admitted to the program are required to be enrolled in the correct "Admit Term". Any student enrolled for the wrong term will need to contact the Office of Admissions via email to have the "Admit Term" corrected before they can be registered for classes.
