Dr. Stasie Harrington has recently (Fall 2017) joined the WKU modern language faculty. She will teach courses in second language acquisition, teaching methods and additional language and linguistic courses in support of the Spanish major. Along with coordinating lower-division Spanish, she will be working with language student teachers and K-12 language teachers in the region.
Prior to coming to WKU, she taught undergraduate language and linguistic courses and coordinated the multi-section fifth semester intermediate grammar and composition course at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, worked for six years as a language director and English instructor in Madrid, Spain and was an Assistant Professor of Spanish at the College at Brockport SUNY.
Specializing in foreign language pedagogy and second language acquisition, Dr. Harrington has published articles and presented papers and workshops in the areas of second language reading and phonology, teacher education, and instructional technologies in language education, and she is actively involved in pedagogical materials development. She is the co-author of Relaciónate: Comunicación avanzada (© 2014 Heinle, Cengage Learning), an advanced conversation/composition textbook and El cine documental: Spanish Language and Culture Through Documentary Film, an intermediate/advanced textbook based on current, thought-provoking documentary films (© 2016 Focus/Hackett Publishing Company).
