Department of Modern Languages

The Department of Modern Languages offers majors and minors in French, German, and Spanish. Major/minor programs for Arabic and Chinese are in development. Contact Dr. David DiMeo and Dr. Ke Peng to request the most current information about Arabic and Chinese, respectively. Lower division instruction is also offered in Japanese, Russian and Swahili.

Major/minor rograms in Modern Languages are designed to support students in developing Advanced level language proficiency while acquiring cultural knowledge essential to achievement in their future careers. Many language majors choose a second major in a content discipline, thus enhancing their preparation for careers in education, international business, government, law, scientific investigation, nursing, social work, and tourism, among others.

Members of the Modern Languages faculty hold degrees from a broad spectrum of nationally and internationally known institutions. They are active in teaching, research and service. We invite you to become acquainted with their professional accomplishments by visiting their faculty pages.
