First of all, I want to welcome you to WKU!! My name is Riley Jones, and I will be your counselor at H4. I hope you have had an awesome summer and are getting excited to officially begin your journey on the Hill. This is my first summer being a counselor, and I am ecstatic to be able to have another experience at H4! My favorite thing about the Mahurin Honors College-as cliché as this sounds-is that it truly is a home away from home, and I owe so much of that to my time at H4.
I am originally from Elizabethtown, Kentucky and I will be a junior this fall! I am a Strategic Marketing major. Coming into college, I was originally Exploratory Studies (Undeclared), but I quickly found my interest in the business field. Another fun fact about myself is that I spent this past semester (Spring 2018) studying abroad at Harlaxton College in Grantham, England! I was able to travel to 13 different countries (my picture was taken in Barcelona, Spain), and it was truly the greatest experience of my life!
I was involved in several extracurricular activities during high school, and I wanted that to continue during my time at WKU. I joined Kappa Delta sorority and served as the Vice President of Finance during my freshman and sophomore year. I participated in Dance Big Red my freshman year, and I also love finding ways to stay involved with the Mahurin Honors College. This past summer, I worked as a Resident Advisor for the Governor’s Scholars Program at Morehead State University. I am a “people person”, so I love being able to spend time with my friends and family when I can! I also enjoy singing, playing guitar, my occasional Netflix binges (currently in the middle of This Is Us), watching anything and everything HGTV, and traveling. In my free time off campus, I enjoy exploring around downtown Bowling Green, doing homework or hanging out at Spencer’s Coffee, and going to Jackson’s Orchard in the fall.
Now that I’ve introduced myself a little bit, I cannot wait to get to know you better! When I was in your shoes, about to begin H4 and my freshman year, I honestly had zero clue of what to expect or anticipate. My advice to you is to enter H4 and WKU with a mindset of being open to taking everything in: you’re going to meet your classmates and future best friends, so just be ready to HAVE A BLAST! H4 is for you to get acclimated and start your journey in a fun environment, and I am honored to be able to assist in beginning that for you!
I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or concerns coming into this! Feel free to reach out to me!
Enjoy the rest of your summer, and GET EXCITED!!
