My name is Matthew Givens and I will be your H4 Counselor this year! I am from Greensburg, Kentucky, and I am very excited to meet you and help shape your H4 experience! Choosing the Mahurin Honors College at WKU has been one of the best decisions of my life and attending the H4 Honors Retreat will provide you a great opportunity to experience the ins and outs of being a Mahurin Honors scholar.
We will be able to get to know each other over the course of the week, but here are a few things you should know about me. First, I am entering my sophomore year at WKU and I am a Sport Management & Finance double major with a minor in Economics. My campus life includes being a WKU Spirit Master, TOP Guide, Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity member, and Sport Management Club member. I am also an avid Tops fan, and attend as many WKU sporting events as possible. I enjoy any activity that includes Major League Baseball (Go Reds), The Office, the outdoors, meeting new people, board games, and, obviously, the Tops!
The best advice I can provide to you is that you get out of college what you put into it. My time on The Hill has been incredible and I attribute this to the friendships I have created and the groups I am involved in. At WKU, you will have numerous opportunities to step out of your comfort zone and while doing so can be difficult, it can also be the most rewarding thing you do. I encourage you to meet new people, make memories, and push yourself to new heights as a member of WKU and the Mahurin Honors College, and attending the H4 Honors Retreat is a great place to start!
If you have any questions about H4, the Mahurin Honors College, the Cincinnati Reds, or anything at all, do not hesitate to write me and ask questions. I will be happy to help! I cannot wait to meet you and I know you will have a blast at H4 this year!
