I am Kaleb Perdew and if you are seeing this page I am most likely your H4 counselor this year! I am thrilled about this experience and cannot wait to embark on this wonderful adventure with you. I am from Shepherdsville, KY (just shy of Louisville) and began my time at WKU in 2017. I am a Construction Management major entering my junior year ready to finish the last two years of my collegiate career. For you however, you are about to begin a new life best described as a rollercoaster; the best rollercoaster you will ever ride though. It might be nerve-racking but we will figure it all out together.
First, I will give you a little bit about me. I am 20 years old and come from a family of five children including myself. I am the middle child in my family and the 5th person from my family to attend WKU. Both of my parents were Hilltoppers and first met on the tennis courts! I have two older sisters; one who has graduated and is about to tackle graduate school and another who has finished graduate school. Some things I enjoy are ALL sports (biased to basketball though), working out, tons and tons of movies, and of course sleeping. During the school breaks I work for a construction company out of Louisville called Peak Construction and strive to be a Project Manager on large-scale construction sites after I graduate. When I am at school I live a pretty busy lifestyle. I am a first year HonorsTopper, member of the Associated General Contractors (AGC), participate in Greek life and hold an executive position in my organization, and also have the pleasure to be a tutor at the Kelley Autism Program. WKU offers so much to get involved with and it may seem like a lot on your plate but get involved! You will have an absolute blast and there is something for everyone on campus.
This is my first year as an H4 counselor but not my first retreat. When I attended H4 as a freshman I was excited but also terrified. A piece of advice from someone that has experienced it; don’t take it for granted and enjoy every moment. H4 provided me with a headstart and a kickstart to my college career. Many great friends that I have now were ones I met at H4! Also, utilize the counselors to the fullest. Ask as many questions you can think of about college so that you can feel more at ease about the transition. After all, that’s what we are here for: you guys!
I know all of this process may be terrifying for you, but the Mahurin Honors College does a fantastic job making the transition easy and enjoyable for everyone.
If you have any questions about WKU, H4, or even me, feel free to email me from your TopperMail at email@example.com or shoot me a text at (502) 492-9594! H4 is going to be a blast! Can’t wait to get it started!
