Deven Richardson

Konnichiwa Minna-San (Hello Everyone)!

My name is Deven Richardson and I am a senior here at the Mahurin Honors College! I am a Bowling Green, Kentucky native and I am so thrilled to be a returning counselor at H4!Deven Richardson

Currently, I am a WKU
HonorsTopper and Study Abroad and
 Global Learning representative. Over the
course of my undergrad education I have
also been an SGA Senator, Hall Council
President and Exchange Student Mentor. In
the Spring semester of 2016 I studied abroad in Osaka, Japan with the help of the Gilman Scholarship and have also just completed a summer in Washington D.C. under the Rangel Summer Enrichment program. I was also awarded a CLS scholarship to study Japanese but unfortunately had to decline it in order to spend the summer in D.C. Some of my favorite activities include studying the Japanese culture and language, cooking, anything sports related, and meeting and talking with new people! My majors are Political Science and International Affairs and my dream is to one day be a Foreign Service Officer stationed in Japan!

So far, I would have to say my favorite college memory was being selected as one of WKU’s first Rangel Scholars and having the ability to represent the Mahurin Honors College in Washington D.C. As a freshman coming in, my biggest piece of advice to you all would be to work on managing your time effectively because it is an essential part of succeeding in college!

Even though this summer was really fun for me, I always look forward to H4 because I get the chance to meet all of the incoming students who are going to continue making WKU the school I love! I can’t wait to meet all of you!
