My name is Corbin Farley, and I am so excited to see you and all the campers at H4! I hope that the experience helps you prepare for your transition to college and answers any questions you have, I know it did these things for me. It was a time for me to relax a little and make friends to go through college with!
I am an electrical engineering major from Frankfort, KY. As a Freshman, I became involved with the HonorsToppers organization, intramural sports, the Greek community as a brother in FIJI, Campus Crusades for Christ and Living Hope Baptist Church. I really enjoy these groups and the time I spend with them, but it took trying out tons of different things to find what I wanted to become passionate about. In my free time, I enjoy playing basketball, playing piano or guitar, and hanging with friends. As an incoming freshman, I would recommend that you try out new clubs and organizations to find where you will fit best.
One of the biggest lessons I learned Freshman year was that it is ok to ask for help. As honors students, we are usually used to doing stuff on our own and feel that asking for help is showing weakness, but in reality it shows maturity and resolve. I cannot wait to share what I learned this last year and what amazing opportunities Western Kentucky University has to offer intentional students.
Some of my favorite memories from Freshman year were outside of the classroom with my fraternity or other honors students. Late nights “studying” in the Mahurin Honors College building and GADs runs are staples of my first year on the hill. Get ready to have an amazing weekend that will spark excitement for your future as a Hilltopper! If you have any questions feel free to text me or follow me on Instagram at @corbin_farley.
