As your summer starts to draw to a close I hope you are eagerly preparing for one of the best times of your life. I am beyond excited to welcome you to H4 and the Mahurin Honors College at WKU!
I am a junior from Louisville, Kentucky and a second time counselor. At WKU I have not only found a place that I have come to call home, but a contagious spirit and an enthusiastic community that feels more like a family each year I am on the Hill. The Mahurin Honors College is a hub of people eager to help you to achieve those big dreams of yours and to push you to become the best version of yourself, both in work and play, which is exactly what we’ll get started while at H4. You’re already one of us, so it’s time you come and join the fun.
I am currently pursuing a major in Mathematical Economics with a certificate in Public Health. The goal is to one day be working for a non-profit health organization deciding how much aid needs to go where. Outside of class, I am involved in Greek Life as a member of a sorority, Christian Student Fellowship, which is an on-campus ministry where I play my cello as part of the worship team, Spirit Masters, an ambassadorial group designed to serve and preserve what makes WKU what it is, and Circle of Sisterhood. I have participated in raising money for Norton Children’s Hospital at Dance Big Red (highly recommend), intramurals (personal favorite is battleship, ask me about it), and other random events that have made WKU my favorite place. Other than that, I am an avid shopper, love a good game of four square or volleyball, and have a never-ending need to travel somewhere, which I was able to do this past semester at Harlaxton College in Grantham, England.
Studying abroad was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I was able to travel to a different country in Europe nearly every weekend with people that soon became some of my very best friends while taking classes in a huge manor house set in the English countryside. I’m sure I will share some stories at H4! But, I can’t wait for you to embrace all of the opportunities that WKU has to offer and to start accumulating your own stories throughout your time as a Hilltopper!
What I hope you have gotten from this letter so far is just how great WKU is, and that it has sparked your excitement to start your very own adventure here! I also hope that this letter has prompted more questions about all that WKU has to offer and the Honors College’s role in getting you there. If you have any questions about college life, H4, packing, or really anything at all feel free to reach out to me! In the meantime, get your competitive spirit and creative juices flowing. Looking forward to meeting you and getting this adventure started!
