Hello! My name is Allison Bradshaw and I am so excited to be your H4 counselor! I went to H4 two years ago and I am so excited to return as a counselor! Welcome to the Mahurin Honors College and WKU!
I was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from Louisville Male High School in 2017. I am starting my junior year at WKU with a major in Biology, a minor in Biophysics, and a pre-med concentration. After my first semester on the Hill, I quickly fell in love with everything that is Western Kentucky University. A big reason for that love was the Mahurin Honors College, the place where I found special friends and faculty that have supported me in my college career. The Mahurin Honors College has provided me with a welcoming, refreshing energy that has boosted my confidence in myself; I hope you will experience a similar feeling over the next four years!
I have learned that one of the best ways to enjoy college is to get involved in campus activities. I became involved in Greek life where I joined a sorority, I participated in Dance Big Red (a 12 hour dance marathon to raise money for Norton Children’s Hospital), became an HonorsTopper for the Mahurin Honors College, and joined a pre-professional honors society. I encourage you to became involved in activities that you really enjoy, whether that be intramurals or campus ministries.
I was able to study abroad in Tanzania this past summer where I got the opportunity to work in the hospitals there. I learned so much about the world, my future career, and myself during that experience! Studying abroad is one of the many opportunities that the Mahurin Honors College can help provide. Don’t be afraid to reach out to the faculty and staff in order to find unique opportunities and life-changing experiences!
My favorite spot on campus is the grassy area between DSU and Minton Hall. The cherry blossoms are absolutely beautiful and this area is always booming with excited students! It’s a great atmosphere!
You are about to embark on a four year journey that will consist of many highs that are sprinkled with a few challenges. I am so thankful that I get to welcome you on your journey and I am here to answer any question you may have! Please feel free to call, text, or email me if you have any questions before H4! I can’t wait to meet you!
