Academic Transitions Program
The Academic Transitions Program (ATP) is a required advisement, orientation and registration program for all new WKU students. ATP is a one-day event for both students and parents, offered on various dates between March and August, and includes activities such as:
- Information Sessions for both Students and Parents
- Meet the Dean of your Academic College
- Placement Exams
- Academic Advising
- Class Registration
The Honors College encourages students to register for the earliest ATP that fits their schedule in order to have the most flexibility in scheduling classes.
During ATP, students will first meet with their academic advisor from their home department. Make sure to ask your advisor about enrolling in at least 6 hours of Honors credit.
The Honors Academic Advisor will be available after class registration to review your schedule or make changes as needed. Visit us at the Information Fair at the end of ATP to speak with an Honors representative or advisor.
Traditionally, the first ATP of the year is reserved for WKU scholarship recipients and is by invitation only. Many students attending Scholars ATP will be in the Honors College, but not all. Additionally, not every Honors College student is invited to attend Scholars ATP - only those receiving academic scholarships at a certain level.
