Honors College at WKU

Graduate Assistant

My Role in the Honors College

I assist Dr. Baylis with the Capstone Experience/Thesis process. It involves emailing, filing, solving academic mysteries, and making sure students are on task with completing their theses. When students finish their theses, I make sure they are formatted right so they can be distributed to binding and TopSCHOLAR.

Educational Background

I graduated from Thomas More College summa cum laude in 2010. I was a double-major: History and Political Science. I was also a member the James Graham Honors Program, the honors program at Thomas More College. After graduating, I decided to work for AmeriCorps for a year. I was stationed at Pendleton County High School where I served my AmeriCorps hours as a Kentucky College Coach. In this position, I helped students think about and apply to college. When I finished with my AmeriCorps term, I decided to apply to Western Kentucky University. I am currently a second year graduate student in History and working on my M.A. thesis.

Hobbies and Interests

I enjoy studying and researching history! My particular interest that I am really fond of is the Salem Witch Trials. I love the sports of tennis and volleyball. I have played tennis since I was a freshman in high school and played NCAA Division III tennis for four years at Thomas More College. I also love to travel! I have only been to four countries but would love to travel more. One of my dreams is to backpack through Europe!

What Brought Me to the HC

During the summer of 2012, I saw that there was an opening for a graduate assistant position for the Honors College. Being an honors student myself at Thomas More College, I knew that this would be a perfect opportunity for me. I have already learned so much here and have fallen in love with the program!

A Little About Myself

I classify myself as a Northern Kentuckian. I try to plan tennis at least two times a week. I tend to use a lot of pop culture references when talking with people to see if they even catch the reference. People think my eating habits are weird since I am a vegetarian, do not like dressing on my salads, will not drink soda, and dislike the taste of pies. Even though I have a strange taste in foods, I am easy to get along with and love being around people.
