WKU Habitat for Humanity
- Former President: WKU Habitat for Humanity
I grew up in Meade County, Kentucky which is about 2 hours away from Bowling Green. I am a senior, and my major is in psychology!
I got involved with Habitat around 2 years ago. I was on the mailing list and there was going to be a shed build that weekend. I went with a friend and learned more about Habitat. There were others there that helped me learn how to use all the different power tools. I loved the cause and the people so I continued going to builds!
My favorite part about Habitat is the people you meet while serving the community you are in. This can be other volunteers, Habitat affiliates, or partner families. This past summer we went on a break trip to York, Pennsylvania. I was able to meet the partner families for 3 of the homes we were working on. I was also able to connect to those I didn’t know before this trip from the campus chapter!
I am looking forward to planning some awesome events for the Fall! Currently, I am in the process of planning a campus wide gingerbread house competition that we have never done before! I am excited to get the new Freshman Representatives on board with this as well!
