Senate Bill 1 Overview


How is College Readiness Determined?

Students entering postsecondary education in Kentucky are considered college ready if they score Students who score below 19 in math, 20 in reading and 18 in English are classified as having college readiness needs. Students who are classified as significantly/moderately underprepared are required to enroll in remedial, non-degree credit courses their first semester and must successfully complete the course(s) with a grade of C or better.

When do I have to take my college readiness courses?

Your first term at WKU. Placement in the appropriate courses are based upon student ACT scores.

What happens after I finish my courses?

After you complete the required courses you will take your first college level course in that subject. This type of placement in your first academic year improves your chances of success.
