Special Project:

Mold remediation in the Resident Halls

On November 7, 2018, WKU announced the decision to temporarily close Minton Hall and temporarily relocate students to another housing assignment on campus. Mold growth was discovered and reported in Minton Hall at an elevated rate.  While the test results from the Department of Environmental Health and Safety have shown that the mold spores are common environmental mold, out of an abundance of caution, WKU Housing & Residence Life determined that it was in the best interest of Minton residents to perform thorough maintenance and cleaning in every living space and all mechanical spaces. After replacing all ceiling tiles, thoroughly cleaning the ceiling & rooms, and applying an anti-microbial agent to all surfaces, Minton was deemed safe to reopen to residents. Minton reopened in Fall 2019.
