This course is designed to increase a first responder's knowledge on Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Specific areas of study include recognizing TBI signs, differentiation of TBI from other conditions with which it is often mistaken, and the ability to effectively manage an encounter with a TBI survivor in the community.

  • Participants will be able to define the difference between mild, moderate and severe TBI signs and symptoms
  • Participants will be able to describe two differences between alcohol intoxication and TBI
  • Participants will be able to identify 2 or more red flags for aggressive driving that signals the driver is a TBI survivor
  • Participants will be able to identify 3 or more ways to de-escalate a possible crisis situation with a TBI survivor
