Guest Speakers

Michael Kitces is a partner and the Director of Wealth Management for Pinnacle Advisory Group, a private wealth management firm located in Columbia, Maryland that oversees more than $2.0 billion of client assets. In addition, he is a co-founder of the XY Planning Network, AdvicePay, and New Planner Recruiting, the former Practitioner Editor of the Journal of Financial Planning, the host of the Financial Advisor Success podcast, and the publisher of the popular financial planning continuing education blog Nerd’s Eye View through his website www.Kitces.com, all dedicated to advancing knowledge in financial planning.

Josh Binford, Regional Director at Dimensional Fund Advisors, works directly with advisors that work with retirement plan clients. He specializes in business development, practice management, investment analysis, financial wellness initiatives and employee education strategy. He also serves as a 401(k) resource for other advisors looking to enter the defined contribution market or expand their retirement plan business. Prior to joining Dimensional, Josh was a retirement plan consultant with Lockton Retirement Services, where he advised plan sponsors serving as a co-fiduciary to their investment committee. Josh has a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Kentucky, holds the CFP® Designation and is a Level III candidate in the CFA program.

David Beckwortha Senior Research Fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University and a former international economist at the US Department of the Treasury. He is the author of Boom and Bust Banking: The Causes and Cures of the Great Recession. His research focuses on monetary policy, and his work has been cited by the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, the New York Times,Bloomberg Businessweek, and the Economist. He has advised congressional staffers on monetary policy and has written for Barron’sInvestor’s Business Daily, the New Republic, the Atlantic, and National Review. David is the author of the Macro Musings blog and also hosts the weekly Macro Musings podcast.

Tom Galgano is a Sales Executive with the Vanguard Group. He supports the RIA financial advisor community in MD, DC, VA, KY, WV and TN. He has spoken at various FPA and CFA events on the east coast on topics ranging from economics to financial planning to investor behavior. He is a CFA charter-holder and graduate of Villanova’s Bartley School of Business.

Ron A. Rhoades is Director of the Personal Financial Planning Program at Western Kentucky University and an Asst. Professor of Finance. An attorney and CFP®, he has written and spoken about the fiduciary standard of conduct for 15 years, and travels frequently to meet with policy makers. Also a investment adviser, he has served on the boards and committees of several national financial planning organizations.
