Western Kentucky University 2020 graduates, since March our COVID-19 Task Force, health and safety team and others have followed the virus’ movement closely and frequently connect with health officials following their important guidance. At this time, we do not feel it is in the best interest of everyone in our WKU Community to move forward with a Commencement celebration in September. Instead, we will plan to celebrate all fall and spring, 2020 graduates, during our May 2021 Commencement celebration. As always, we will follow the guidance provided by our public health officials before solidifying plans.

December Graduates

December Graduates - WKU’s comprehensive restart plan released in June included important alterations to the calendar for the fall semester. As a reminder, December 2020 recognition ceremonies will be combined with the spring 2021 Commencement celebration. As we continue to assess plans for 2021 and follow guidance from public health officials, our Registrar’s Office will communicate more information with you at the appropriate time.

We look forward to celebrating your outstanding achievements with you here on the Hill.

While we work diligently toward plans for spring 2021, we will continue to keep the safety and wellbeing of our graduates and the Hilltopper Family at the forefront of our plans. If the pandemic alters our plans in any way, we will continue to adjust plans with the involvement of our graduates.

The Commencement Planning Committee will work with parties across campus to develop the schedule of commencement activities that celebrate all of our graduates. We welcome feedback from members of the graduating class. Please email your comments to special.events@wku.edu.
