CIT 2+2 Students

2+2 Transfer Student Information

Western Kentucky University (WKU) has a unique partnership with a select group of community and technical colleges that allows graduates to apply their IT degrees towards the completion of the CIT major. Under this arrangement, WKU will accept your degree as a block transfer when you are admitted — and you start the CIT program as a Junior.

Transfer Chart

There are no complicated articulation agreements, no awkward lists of classes that transfer (and many that do not). Our consortium graduates know that their associates’ degrees transfer into the CIT program directly. Check out the ‘other’ schools; there really isn’t much to compare.

Students who take advantage of this option only take (4) 300-level CIT courses and (8) 400-level electives. Your block transfer covers the rest of the major requirements.

Students must complete the A.A.S. degree before starting in the CIT program to take advantage of this partnership. WKU will not consider individual courses for transfer. If you don’t graduate…you can’t take advantage of this 2+2 option.

Students who graduate in something other than Information Technology (or CIS at IvyTech) are not eligible for the 2+2 option. Lots of college majors use computers in their curriculum and some have the word “technology” in the title. Unless it’s an IT program from a consortium partner we can’t accept your transfer credit.

Students who transfer from a partner community/technical college will need to complete WKU’s General Education requirements. These may be completed at WKU, or your local college. You will learn more about this in your CIT classes.

All CIT courses are available on-line and may be completed from anywhere in the world. The “on-demand” format of these classes is compatible with busy work and family schedules.
