Hello and welcome to the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at Western Kentucky University. As the newly appointed Dean, and a proud new Hilltopper, I am excited to work with the CHHS faculty, staff, and students to develop a strategic plan that will move us to new “heights.” It’s a privilege to be the leader of over 5,000 faculty, staff, and students who share my commitment to research, teaching, and community engagement. While we will work collaboratively over the next year to develop a shared vision, I envision CHHS becoming a leader in community-engagement in Southcentral Kentucky and beyond. It is my hope that all research, teaching, and service activities will positively impact our local, national and/or international communities in a meaningful way.
As a college, our greatest strength is the depth of diverse degree programs. We house seven academic units that represent a wide variety of health and human service programs, all unique with innovative research programs and strong ties to the community. In the classroom, we provide a solid foundation that will prepare students to become strong and innovative leaders in their chosen fields. Furthermore, students have access to invaluable experiences in clinics and labs, and through fieldwork and internships at facilities, agencies and organizations within our region; fostering personal development and engagement in our community.
Constant advancements in technology and positive hiring trends for health and human service professions make it an excellent time to join the CHHS family! Our accomplished faculty are highly diverse within their respective disciplines. They each provide a collaborative environment and will utilize advanced teaching strategies with modern technology such as simulation labs, distance learning, and web-based instruction to encourage critical thinking in their discipline.
I invite you to visit our beautiful campus and to explore our website to learn more about the countless opportunities through each of our programs, organizations, and resources. After meeting with our team and touring our advanced learning facilities, I am certain you will choose the College of Health of Human Services at WKU as your educational platform. Come and discover the possibilities and climb to greater heights with us!
