Bio
Dr. Hoover’s ongoing clinical practice includes specific emphasis in the areas of sports medicine, occupational health and rehabilitation, geriatrics, and human performance enhancement. He has more than 15 years of university teaching experience in exercise science and physical therapy, and currently teaches Movement Science I and II in the DPT curriculum. Dr. Hoover’s research interests focus on the interactions between bioenergetics, motor control and biomechanics in gross motor activities such as cycling, running, and jumping. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts on these and related topics, and well over 90% of these have included undergraduate and graduate student co-authors. He is also increasingly interested in the scholarship of teaching and learning and have done a number of national presentations on this topic as well. Dr. Hoover is involved in a number of professional organizations, including the American Physical Therapy Association, National Strength and Conditioning Association, American College of Sports Medicine, and International Society for Biomechanics in Sport. In particular he has enjoyed contributing to the APTA’s annual Education Leadership Conference and the formation of the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT).
