General Admission Requirements


We are currently not accepting applications for the MAE Adult Education. The Graduate Certificate program is still accepting applications.

Applicants can apply to the program under one of the following:

1. Applicants with an undergraduate degree from an accredited university and an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher, or an undergraduate degree with a GPA of 3.25 or higher in the last 30 hours, submit a portfolio that will be reviewed by the Adult Education Admission’s committee and used to determine recommendations for admission. Candidates may be asked to complete a phone or Skype interview as part of the admission decision process. Requirements for putting together the portfolio are as follows:

  • Letter of application focusing on previous history of facilitating change, how this program will help them, and what they hope to accomplish once they have completed the program.
  • Philosophy of Change – a description of their views of change as it relates to the individual, organization, and community.
  • Scholarly Sample - Include at least a five-page paper that demonstrates candidate's ability to write scholarly papers.

2. Applicants with a previous master’s degree from an accredited university and a graduate grade point average of 3.5 or higher submit a portfolio that will be reviewed by the Adult Education Admission committee and used to determine recommendations for admission.  Candidates may be asked to complete a phone or Skype interview as part of the admission decision process. Requirements for putting together the portfolio are as follows:

3. Applicants with an undergraduate grade point average below a 3.0 may submit qualifying GAP/GRE-AW* scores and a portfolio that will be reviewed by the Adult Education Admission committee and used to determine recommendations for admission. Applicants who choose not to take the GRE or whose GAP/GRE-AW scores do not meet stated program minimums may apply for consideration under the College of Education and Behavior Science’s alternate admissions policy. *Admission under the current test requires a minimum GAP score of 550 and minimums of 139 for the Verbal Score and 139 for the Quantitative Score. (V + Q) + (Undergraduate GPA * 100) = GAP The qualifying GRE-AW score is 3.5.
