Atypical High School
We're not typical high school students. Our junior and senior years are spent at Western Kentucky University taking college classes in math, science, and lots of other subjects. While many students are looking for their locker combination, we're searching for alternative fuels and a cure for cancer. We don't have an 8 a.m. bell or homeroom, but we'll finish high school with over 60 hours of college credit. Our home on campus is Schneider Hall, an awesome place to live and learn with friends. Best of all, as a student at the Gatton Academy, tuition, housing, and meals come at no cost to us or our families.
A typical high? No. Atypical? Definitely.
Sixty-nine students representing 51 counties from across the Commonwealth were recognized during the ceremony in Van Meter Hall. The ceremony honored the Gatton Academy's sixth graduating class.
The Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky at WKU has been named America's top high school by Newsweek magazine for the second straight year.
What is Life Like as an Academy Student?
There's nothing quite like experiencing the unique environment of the Gatton Academy first hand. For that, we host several Preview Weekends throughout the fall and winter. As you begin to explore the Academy as an educational opportunity, why not check out our admissions video? Gatton Academy students and staff members share their experiences with the program as we outline academics, student life, research, and admissions.
